An evergreen conifer native to the Mediterranean area. Aleppo Pine has a very rapid growth rate, does not tolerate harsh winters and prefers a mild climate. It is a species used for reforestation of difficult areas or as a resin tree from which a substance, turpentine, used in industry, is extracted. The tough, heavy and durable wood is mainly used in construction or rustic carpentry. In the past, the bark was sought after by fishermen to dye their nets red. Evergreen plant with irregular habit and a loose, spreading crown 10-15 meters high. Stem grows often sloping, characterized by light-gray bark, reddish in cracks. The leaves are slightly prickly needles, growing in pairs, light green in color and 3-8 cm long.
