The forests we grow

Bosco del Lusignolo

Italy
San Gervasio Bresciano (BS)

Between Brescia and Cremona, a former agricultural field has become a green lung for the Po Valley.

Imagine a corner of the Po Valley where nature has regained its space: this is the Bosco del Lusignolo, a green lung in the Lower Brescian region, as big as 41 soccer fields. Over the years, more than 30,000 native plants such as oaks, ash trees and cherry trees have replaced cultivated fields, providing shelter for birds such as the grey heron and buzzard. Along the picturesque Roggia Lusignolo, among century-old poplars and bicycle and pedestrian paths, every visit becomes a unique sensory experience: brush against the barks, listen to the rustle of leaves, breathe in the essence of the forest. This gem, part of the “Ten Great Lowland Forests” project, is key to improving the air quality of the Po Valley and its biodiversity. By adopting a tree in the Lusignolo Forest, you contribute to its growth and the future of Italy’s forests
