Enego (VI)

“Will there ever again be lovers who, on a winter night, will be carried on a sleigh pulled by a bountiful horse across the moonlight-soaked Marcesina plain? If not, how sad will the world be”. These words were written by Mario Rigoni Stern about this beloved land, where he lived and which he described in his works. Support this area devastated by the Vaia storm and by the bark beetle.

Ultimo evento a Enego: 7 settembre 2024

“Will there ever again be lovers who, on a winter night, will be carried on a sleigh pulled by a bountiful horse across the moonlight-soaked Marcesina plain? If not, how sad will the world be”. These words were written by Mario Rigoni Stern about this beloved land, in the plateau of the seven townships, where he lived and which he described in his works. Who knows what he would write today when confronted with the sadness of a battered plain with no more woods surrounding it, almost as if Hurricane Vaia had taken these places back a hundred years when the devastating fury was waged by the war.

To grow a tree in the Plateau of the Seven Townships is to give back this land to history, to lovers and to poetry. In 2022, the forests of Enego are battling the bark beetle, a dangerous pest that is decimating the forest by stripping the spruce trees of sap. The good news is that you too can do something about it. Help us fight the bark beetle epidemic by adopting or donating a tree.

This post-Vaia reforestation project was made possible thanks to the support of Enego’s forest owners and managers as part of the WOWalps | the Rebirth of Alpine Forests initiative, promoted by WOWnature in collaboration with Municipalities and private individuals who look after forests impacted by the Vaia storm.
