Forests created or improved Saja

Italia

Why did we support this forest?

A permanent experimental laboratory combining old and new techniques involving permaculture, natural agriculture, education, art and self-building.

History of the forest

At the foot of Mount Etna in Sicily, a group of people decided to turn a dream into reality: to live and work in harmony with nature. This led to the creation of the Saja project, a permanent laboratory where permaculture, natural farming, environmental education, art, and self-building practices are explored. In this context, a food forest has also developed: a forest garden that supports both people and biodiversity. Today, Saja is a key reference for those seeking to rediscover a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of life.

Where is the forest located?

How we improved the forest

The Saja food forest was completed with the support of many citizens who adopted a tree. Each plant was selected to enrich the soil, provide food for wildlife and people, and strengthen the local ecosystem. The TreeTicket project was also launched in this context: cultural events that have a positive impact on nature. The first example? Phonosynthesis, a live-streamed concert by Roy Paci and Angelo Sicurella. A tangible gesture to leave the area better than we found it.
