The forests we created and improved

Scuole Verdi

Italy
Carmignano di Brenta (PD)

A greener school for the children and youth of Carmignano di Brenta. New trees and shrubs will provide clean air, shade and make the learning environment healthier and safer.

A school surrounded by greenery is every parent’s dream. Seeing their children enjoying a meadow, climbing trees, and playing with leaves is definitely preferable to a concrete playground. In the municipality of Carmignano di Brenta, the schools welcomes children from nursery to middle school, an age group when contact with nature is essential. In the past five years, there have been various improvements in terms of roads, buildings and parking, but the area is still lacking environmental care. There are just few trees, in some cases decaying or even diseased.

Therefore, we will plant nearly 600 new trees and shrubs around the schools. They will be species chosen to provide safety for the children, as they are resistant to the wind and storms that are frequent in the area. In addition, they will serve to generate shade, which will allow children to spend time outdoors even in summer. The air will be cleaner, because trees such as holm oaks and maples are ideal for capturing health-damaging air pollutants. Last but not least, the trees will help the climate resilience of the municipality of Carmignano.
