Evento alberi Oasi di Crosara WOWnature1

Updates from the Crosara Oasis | October 2024

In the Crosara Oasis, we are continuing the environmental restoration work with native species. Despite the stony and sandy soil, the plants are growing well, thanks also to careful summer maintenance.

Continuous maintenance to ensure the growth of seedlings

In 2023, at the Crosa Oasis (VI), we planted new trees with the aim of building an ecological corridor along the river, using local species such as willows, poplars and ash trees. These trees and shrubs are known for their ability to stabilise the banks, prevent erosion and provide an ideal habitat for local wildlife.

Last summer, we mowed the weeds here to ensure that the roots of the plants get more water, and we also carried out what is known as rescue irrigation, which is watering that is done, if necessary, to ensure water and the seedlings.

During our visit, we found that many of the plants planted last year had adapted well to the difficult soil and environmental conditions of the site, as Chiara explains: ‘In general, the success was good, with some plants showing greater growth due to their ability to adapt quickly to the stony soil and proximity to the river.’
