Generali
Founded in 1831, and now present in 50 countries, Generali is one of the major global players in the insurance and asset management industry. With almost 75 thousand employees worldwide and 67 million clients, the Group has a leading position in Europe and an increasingly significant presence in Asia and Latin America. The Group has fully integrated sustainability into all strategic decisions, with the aim to create value for all stakeholders and contribute to a fairer and resilient society. This is also reflected in our new strategy “Lifetime Partner 24: Driving Growth”, in which we aim to be a responsible insurer, investor, employer and citizen.
In the Generali Group Climate Change Strategy, we have committed to decarbonise our client portfolio, our investment portfolio, and our operations through ambitious science-based targets. In addition, we have declared the intention to discontinue investments and underwriting activities related to the most carbon-intensive businesses, primarily the coal business. On the occasion of the Shareholders’ Meeting in April 2022, we launched the initiative “A Tree for a Shareholder”, joining a reforestation project with WOWnature. For every participant attending the meeting, we will plant a tree at Bosco Pizzotto, among the green pastures of the Vezzena Plateau, affected by the storm Vaia, in 2018. The decision to support this reforestation project fully represents Generali’s values, especially the social sharing of risk. Adverse or catastrophic events, such as those generated by the climate crisis, should not weigh excessively on individuals but rather find support from the community. Facing uncertainties together means making them sustainable. For this reason, Generali wants to be at the side of all its stakeholders as a true lifetime partner, in line with its own purpose: “to enable people to shape a safer and more sustainable future by caring for their lives and dreams”.
