Trees, forests, sustainable tourism in Alta Badia: an unbreakable bond
Try to imagine yourself riding your bike, with the wind in your hair, the gears climbing, your legs starting to grind, the jokes with friends, the magnificent passes of Alta Badia and those that surround it, the majestic mountains, the woods and forests of the Dolomites. After a few kilometers you arrive at the Campolongo Pass, Corvara, drink some water to refresh yourself and realize that you are in the area where, more than two years ago, the Vaia storm, one of the most extreme climatic events in recent history, struck. And it is precisely on the slopes of this pass that one of the most eagerly awaited and significant installations of the summer season will take place: the date is June 20, the day after the Dolomites Bike Day, one of the biggest cycling events in the Dolomites that will pass through this pass as well as through Valparola and Falzarego.
We didn’t choose this date at random: Alta Badia is one of the most famous Dolomite destinations in the world, visited every year by many tourists who appreciate the nature, biodiversity, forests, healthy air, good food and the variety of sports activities that can be practiced, including amateur and professional cycling.
Because there is an indissoluble link between the tree, symbol and metaphor for the fight against climate change, the forest and sustainable tourism: creating new forests and protecting existing ones is one of the ways to continue to frequent the mountains in a responsible way and ensure that everyone in the future can enjoy this spectacle of nature.
The pictures you see below were taken during the last planting of 2020 right at Passo Campolongo. On that occasion, due to Covid-19, it was not possible to organize a public event: the event of June 20, however, will be a real live planting during which all those who have adopted a species in this area will be able to plant with us their tree.
Participating is very simple: just click on the button below, adopt a tree, sign up for the form to participate in the event and that’s it. And if you want to stay overnight in Alta Badia, at this link you will find the complete list of available accommodations!
