Protect a forest

Protect existing forests

Forests are under threat: fires, rural abandonment, and loss of biodiversity are making them vulnerable. Protecting forests is crucial for countering the climate crisis.
You can contribute to environmental protection by supporting a forest conservation project.

Planting new trees is not enough. We must take care of forests.

Why is it important to protect forests?

Forests are incredibly important ecosystems that provide many benefits. They help us combat the effects of climate change, host a wide range of species, prevent landslides and avalanches, manage, secure our drinking water resources, and provide valuable raw materials for the economy. However, their health is at risk due to various factors. Natural disasters, illegal logging, the abandonment of traditional practices, wildfires, and the impact of climate change are all threats that may compromise the biodiversity and functions of forests.

Protect forests from these threats

⛔ Land abandonment

The forest area in Italy has increased a lot in recent years, especially in the mountains. Lots of people have moved to cities, abandoning crops and woodlands. Plants naturally tend to regrow in land once used for pasture or meadow. This is not always beneficial. Mountain grasslands and forest edges are areas rich in biodiversity.

🔥 Wildfires

Fire can quickly destroy the natural environment that has taken many years to develop. To prevent and minimize the damage, we use methods such as surveillance, forest management, and preemptive removal of flammable materials.

🪵 Illegal logging

In some areas of the world, not in Italy, trees are illegally cut for profit, compromising the health and integrity of forests. In these cases, we undertake surveillance activities and develop projects to support local communities that take care of forests responsibly.

🐝 Biodiversity loss

The loss of biodiversity is a major concern, especially when it comes to forests. The habitats of forests are often threatened by the spread of invasive alien species, which can disrupt the balance of ecosystems. Our projects focus on preventing the spread of such invasive species, which can be a challenging task.

⛈️ Wind and natural disasters

Even in Italy, catastrophic weather events such as storm Vaia or the floods in Romagna are becoming increasingly frequent. It is the climate crisis, which is changing the world around us. The effects of these extreme events, besides being risky for the safety and economy of those who live in them, transform the landscape and upset the balance of ecosystems.

You can support each forest trough protection package: basic, intermediate, advanced, or maximum.
Depending on the project, you will help preserve a portion of the forest and stock the carbon dioxide trapped by the vegetation itself.
