The Bosco del Quarelo, which can be reached from Viale Sant’Agostino along Via Ponte del Quarelo, is a disturbing woodland that is a true oasis for walking or jogging.
The project envisages the extension of the Bosco del Quarelo in Vicenza, where approximately 2000 trees and 400 shrubs of 22 different native species will be planted. The project will bring significant benefits to the surrounding community and to the entire peri-urban area of Vicenza (given its location about 3 km from the historical centre of Vicenza), including: improvement of air quality, mitigation of the ‘heat island’ effect of the urban area, absorption of CO2 and, last but not least, an improvement of the peri-urban landscape. The forest has been designed by including melliferous species from which pollinating insects can benefit. The high diversity in the species composition of trees and shrubs will also favour faunal (small animals and birds) and soil biodiversity (of all soil microorganisms).
