If there is a place where you can experience magic, this is surely Parco Naturale del Monte Corno (Monte Corno Nature Park). Hidden within the park is the small town of Trodena, for centuries a resting place for travelers headed to Val di Fiemme. It’s a keeper of bygone legends and myths, such as that of the hermit Pan Oansiedl, or that of the spiteful “Steffa-Mandl,” a little man who enjoyed annoying washerwomen by making water disappear from the laundry basin using mysterious spells.
Whoever thinks magic is a thing of the past is sorely mistaken: in these areas, people and nature still live in harmony, in houses nestled on soft meadows at the edge of enchanted forests, just like in a fairy tale. There are many creatures who, once they laid their eyes on the endless variety of shapes and colors of larch, fir and beech forests, never wanted to leave: e.g. the always energetic white hare and that lazy dormouse, just to name a couple. Like them, the woodpecker and the salamander have also decided to live here, as they watch the back-and-forth flow of men who continue to delicately and gratefully extract resin from trees to infuse spirits and perfume their homes.
What are you waiting for? Immerse yourself, as well, in the magical trails of the Park and of its forests!
