Parco di Villa Rota Barbieri (Villa Rota Barbieri Park) has acquired significant importance thanks to “Centro Diurno Socio-Sanitario Villa Rota Barbieri” (“Villa Rota Barbieri Social and Health Care Day Center”). The center welcomes elderly and non self-sufficient adults, who need medical, rehabilitation and support interventions that cannot be provided solely through home-based care. The park is in a state of neglect, but improving it would bring benefits to the entire community, especially those living within the day care center, which is especially devoted to the care of elderly people with Alzheimer’s syndrome. Many studies have shown the beneficial effects of nature – and thus of plants and trees – for Alzheimer’s-related diseases.
