Skateboarding is about movement, self-expression, sport, and fun. And indeed, in 2018 the Municipality started the construction works for one of the largest skateparks in the Veneto region (active from October 1, 2021 and officially inaugurated in 2022), covering an area of about 800 square meters, close to public services, cycling track and train station. But the kids of the association, together with the municipality, wanted to do even more: they wanted to make the area next to the skatepark greener, more sustainable and capable of capturing CO2 and PM10, leaving the area better than it was before. And that is precisely why ASD Zucka Skateboarding decided to support, together with the Municipality of Carmignano di Brenta, the planting of trees in the area.
The trees were planted at the edge of the skatepark and near Parco Fiume Brenta (Brenta River Park) and other beautiful areas of Carmignano di Brenta. Maple and ash trees were selected for this area, because they are key species capable of cleaning the air from PM10 and thus can mitigate the effects of pollution. Moreover, ash trees do not produce seeds and falling leaves, and therefore do not hinder sports activities. Love for sports and awareness that environmental responsibility is everyone’s duty: these are the values driving the Zucka Skatepark project, which was made possible thanks to an agreement between the association and the municipal administration of Carmignano di Brenta. The trees were planted in 2021.
